Services

All members of the HU community are required to utilize eMail for official university communications. The student eMail solution is Microsoft Live.Edu. Instructions on how to access and use Live.Edu mail are available.

HU utilizes MS SharePoint as its ePortfolio platform. All students are expected to use MS SkyDrive to store their learning artifacts.

All HU students are required to bring a laptop to class that meets minimum specifications. Suggested laptops are listed at our partner web site,CDW. If you have questions about paying for your laptop please contact HU Financial Aid at FinancialAid@HarrisburgU.edu or 717.901.5101.

The HU Library offers services that empower you academically: research help, access to high-quality information resources, video-on-demand, interlibrary loan service, and comfortable study space including group study rooms that can be reserved.

 

HU's course management system is Moodle. This resource will be used by faculty to relay important course information to students.
All members of the HU community are distributed a OneCard which serves as campus ID, library card, and can be used at many local restaurants and establishments.  
Harrisburg University has partnered with JourneyEd to provide substantial discounts on software such as Microsoft Office, SPSS, and Adobe Photoshop. Though you may want to check with your instructor, students can also use Open Office or Google Docs for their production needs (word, spreadsheets, etc.).
HU's campus is entirely wireless. In order to get on the network, all laptops must be up-to-date with the latest virus and spyware controls. There are instructions for getting on, or authenticating to, the wireless.

The SmartFTP FTP Library ActiveX component (COM) provides file transfer functionality for the FTP protocol. It offers a wide range of features which allows reliable and secure file transfers (SSL/TLS). FREE
QuickTime is Apple's digitial media player available for FREE.
 
 
Java allows you to play online games, chat with people around the world, calculate your mortgage interest, and view images in 3D, just to name a few. It's also integral to the intranet applications and other e-business solutions that are the foundation of corporate computing.
